Dr Jane joins the prestigious new VSMR chapter of ANZCVS

We are delighted to update you that Dr Jane McNae has been invited to join and the newly established Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation chapter of the Australian & New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists.

Monday 17th May 2021

The College is in its 50th year of focusing on evidence-based practice and pursuit of excellence in Veterinary Science. Dr Jane is already a Member by examination, in Small Animal Surgery. Now she will add Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation to her list of credentials. Her current role as an executive committee member for the VSRM chapter, is to help coordinate the Science Week conference in July this year on the Gold Coast. 

Dr Jane says: ‘As ever, I am excited to be supporting and cultivating the development of veterinary physiotherapy and rehabilitation for all of Australasia.’

What do all the letters mean? They largely mean that Dr Jane loves to continue learn and upskill, evolving her knowledge to help pet patients. They represent a long career of experience, development and progression in the veterinary field. But here- let’s break them down….

Dr Jane McNae, BVSc, MANZCVS (Surg & VSMR), MRCVS, PGCert (Med Ed), CCRT, Dip (An Phys)

BVSc- Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science (University of Queensland, Australia)

MANZCVS (SA Surg and VSMR)- Member by examination of Australian & New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in both Small Animal Surgery and Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation (Australia)

MRCVS- Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (Registration to work in UK)

PG Cert (Med Ed)- Post Graduate Certificate in Medical Education (Cardiff University, UK)

CCRT- Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist (Canine Rehabilitation institute, USA)

Dip (An Phys)- Diploma in Animal Physiotherapy (The College of Animal Physiotherapy, UK).

When we met Fan Shu as a puppy at 10months of age, he had both severe hip dysplasia and a shoulder injury causing deformity and pain. Luckily, he was adopted and his pet pawrents bought him to us to first help with pain and then create an exercise plan to keep him both comfortable and build him up to be fit for life.

When we first met Dusty the Husky, she was 14 years old. She had been managing well over the years with hip dysplasia and degenerative joint disease developing in her hips, back and knees.
