Sweet pain relief! NPAID (Non-Pharmaceutical Anti-Inflammatory Device) technology is here! Targeted Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (tPEMF) therapy is a non-invasive safe way to treat and speed healing of injured tissues, reduce inflammation and lower pain levels in your pet.
PEMF stimulates biological processes and has been shown to have a positive effect on healing of nerves, bone, muscle and cartilage in pets. It has been used for many conditions but its main uses in pets are pain relief by reducing inflammation and swelling to tissues.
A targeted pulsed electromagnetic field is created which penetrates both soft and hard body tissue in the field area. This field stimulates the normal anti-inflammatory pathways (the nitric oxide cycle) used in tissue repair to help speed up the healing process of soft and hard tissues including skin, tendons, ligaments and bones which leads to pain relief, faster healing and relaxation. Contrary to its name, these devices do not contain or use magnets. The field can penetrate fur, bandages and casts to reach all the tissues in the target area. (See section below for more science)
PEMF will regulate blood flow and tissue oxygen which improves the overall tissue health and reduces pain associated with the lack of enough oxygen.
We use PEMF to reduce pain in pets with osteoarthritis and improve the nerve function in injured or degenerative neurological problems. Other conditions we treat include fracture healing, muscle spasm or pain, inflammation, swelling, wound healing and inflammatory diseases of the organs.
Keep in mind that more is not always better. Too much Nitric Oxide production can actually slow healing. When choosing a PEMF device, it is good to know that more power does not mean faster healing.
The Assisi products are classified as non-pharmaceutical anti-inflammatory devices (NPAIDs) have no side effects, potential drug interactions or interactions with implants.
We recommend and use Assisi Loop and Loop Lounge PEMF products, because they are FDA approved (Gaynor, 2018) and tested to ensure they provide the very precise signal needed to effect changes in the pathways of the body’s tissues. Assisi Animal Health invests in trials and studies to determine their true benefits and effects.
Targeted PEMF can be delivered to the pet using a bed or mat (Assisi Loop Lounge) which the patient lies upon during treatment time- this allows the whole pet, with multiple affected areas, to be treated at once. For smaller areas, the Assisi Loop allows a more targeted approach. Because of the relaxation effects by PEMF, many pets are readily drawn to the Loop and Lounge to seek out its biological benefits.
Some animals may notice the increase in blood flow to the treated areas, because with the increased circulation there is often a warming or tingling sensation. We often hear reports from pet owners that their animal relaxes as soon as they start their treatments with the Loop or Loop Lounge.
The Assisi Loop and Loop Lounge are great tools for owners to have at home, ready to use during pain flare-up, inflammation and for recovery after injury or surgery. NPAIDs can be safely used to provide targeted PEMF therapy for home use in dogs, cats, rabbits and exotic pets.

Susan contacted me when her little doggy, Yuby was having some difficulties with painful stifles (knees) due to ligament problems. Yuby was already under the care of her family veterinarian, but the current regime of rest and NSAIDs pain medication was not doing enough to allow Yuby to do the things he loved.
