Dog-friendly Hiking Trails in Hong Kong- based on Your Dog's Fitness Level!

Dog-friendly Hiking Trails in Hong Kong- based on Your Dog's Fitness Level!

We have been out exploring some of our favourite hikes across Hong Kong. Not sure what your pooch can handle? We have graded the trails from a doggie fitness and ability viewpoint to help you decide. Pick from our different levels of trails that suits both you and your fur-kids!!

Saturday 23rd January 2021

Hiking is the best way to explore the natural beauty of Hong Kong with your furry partner. With more than half of Hong Kong designated country parks, the sky is the limit! Not only is it an excellent form of exercise for both of you, but also a great way to bond with your dog. For each district, we rounded up the most dog-friendly hikes with difficulty levels, to help guide you- go explore and enjoy!

Level 1- Apprentice:

Level 1 hikes are for doggies which are first-time hikers, young pups, elder dogs or those rehabilitating and returning to fitness after injury or surgery. These hikes tend to stay on flat ground and are an introduction to uneven and different surfaces on a gentler terrain. Time can be as short as you like, just turn back sooner if your pet needs a slow (re)introduction. If your dog is on a rehabilitation programme with our vet team, we’ll often mention these great beginner areas to exercise.

Level 2 - Intermediate:

For doggies with some hiking experience that would like to build a stronger body, fitness, and conditioning. The paths can be steep so make sure your pet is able to do incline and decline walks. If your dog is in a rehabilitation programme with our vet team, we will let you know when you can add in the more challenging terrain of these hikes.

Level 3 - Challenger:

For doggies who are fit and experienced athletes, willing to conquer vigorous mountains. Make no mistake- these hikes are next level tough! Ensure your pet does not have any health or musculoskeletal conditions and is cleared to walk stairs up and down (and a lot of them!). If your dog is in a rehabilitation programme with our vet team, we will let you know when you can add in the more challenging terrain of these hikes.
